JuiceBox 32 Amp EV Charger Review
The JuiceBox 32 Amp EV Charger delivers reliable Level 2 charging with a 25-foot cable and NEMA 14-50 plug. UL and Energy Star certified, it’s perfect for indoor or outdoor use. Wi-Fi connectivity lets you schedule charging, monitor energy, and control your EV charger from anywhere.
I unboxed the JuiceBox 32 Amp EV Charger and immediately noticed the large wall unit and the 25-foot charging cable. It felt sturdy and well-made, and the universal J1772 connector fit perfectly in my EV. I’ve used other chargers before, but this one just had a solid, professional feel out of the box.
Installation
I set it up in my EV charger test bench and plugged it into my NEMA 14-50 outlet. Installation was straightforward. I didn’t need a pro to do it, though I did follow the instructions carefully. The charger felt solidly mounted on the wall, and the cable management was nice; I could coil the cable without it tangling or dragging on the floor.
One thing I liked is that the JuiceBox 32 lets you select your current limits via the JuiceNet (Enel X Way) app. You can set it anywhere from 6 A through 32 A in 1-amp increments. So if you have a smaller circuit or want to manage the EV charging load, you can easily dial it down. For the 32 A model, the max is 32 A, but you have full control over lower limits.
Also, a quick note for anyone doing their electrical setup: NEC’s 80% rule applies, so a 40 A breaker is recommended for 32 A continuous charging. The Enel X documentation reflects this, which made planning my install easier.
Note: The JuiceBox 32 can be directly hardwired by a licensed electrician, making it a clean and permanent home installation.
Performance
I started a few charging sessions to see how it performed. In my first session, the JuiceBox 32 charged my EV faster than my old Level 1 charger. I could tell right away it was delivering more amps consistently. Over the next week, I tested different scenarios: charging overnight, during peak hours, and with the car parked a bit farther from the wall. The 25-foot cable was great for flexibility. The charger didn’t hiccup, and I appreciated that it handled the longer cable distance without issues.
Smart Features
The JuiceNet app connected quickly to Wi-Fi, and I was able to schedule a few charging windows. I liked seeing the energy usage in real time; it made me feel like I had full control of the process. One thing I noticed is that the app is generally solid, but sometimes it takes a moment to update the session status. It wasn’t a deal-breaker for me, but it’s something to be aware of. Otherwise, I liked how I could start or stop a session from my phone.
Daily Use
Using it day-to-day, it’s been reliable. The LED lights on the charger are clear and bright, making it easy to know when the EV is charging or fully charged. It didn’t feel fussy or overcomplicated, which I like in a home charger.
