2025 Audi e-tron GT Best Home Charger Options

Our expert-tested 2025 Audi e-tron GT home charger reviews feature a J1772 connector fully compatible with the GT’s J1772 AC charging inlet. They all support adjustable amperage up to 48 A (11.5 kW AC), which can be used safely, though the e-tron GT will safely limit the charging speed to its 11 kW onboard maximum. These EV chargers provide faster and more efficient home charging than the OEM 9.6 kW charger or the next popular 10kW aftermarket options.

2025 Audi e-tron GT Home and Public Charging Options

The 2025 Audi e-tron GT is one of the all-electric Audi e-tron models in the 2025 Audi e-tron family.

The 2025 Audi e-tron GT features a 97 kWh (net, 105 kWh gross) battery with a standard 11 kW AC onboard charger and a 22 kW option in select regions as an upgrade.

Most North American models use an 11kW AC J1772 charging inlet for Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging, providing full compatibility with most home EV chargers and electrical systems enabling fast, reliable home charging up to the vehicle’s 11 kW maximum.

At home, a J1772 Level 1 charger (120 V, 12 A) adds about 3–4 miles of range per hour on a 15‑amp outlet, or up to 5 miles per hour on a 20‑amp circuit. Level 2 charging (240 V, 40 A, 11 kW) adds roughly 32 miles per hour, fully charging the battery in about 8.5–9 hours. Where the 22 kW option is supported, charging time drops to around 5 hours, making an 11.5 kW EV charger the best choice for fast, full-speed home AC charging.

While the OEM 9.6 kW charger works, we recommend upgrading to an 11.5 kW EV charger. Most e-tron GT models accept a maximum of 11 kW, so the extra 0.5 kW capacity does not increase speed but ensures full compatibility and future-proofs your home setup.

On the road, the e-tron GT leads Audi’s lineup in DC fast charging with CCS1 (North America) or CCS2 (Europe) connectors, supporting up to 320 kW. This allows charging from 10–80% in about 18 minutes and adds roughly 150 miles of range in just 10 minutes, making it one of the fastest-charging Audi models available.

2025 Audi e-tron GT OEM Charger Performance and Recommended Upgrade

The OEM 9.6 kW charger supports both Level 1 and Level 2 home charging, but our testing shows that upgrading to an 11.5 kW EV charger provides the fastest and most reliable home charging experience. The e-tron GT’s onboard AC charger accepts a maximum of 11 kW, and we confirmed in our tests that an 11.5 kW charger safely reaches this full rate.

We compared the 11.5 kW option to 10 kW chargers, the next most common rating based on EV chargers available in the market. While a few chargers offer adjustable amperage between 10 kW and 11 kW, these are limited in selection. In contrast, there is a wide range of high-quality 11 kW EV chargers.

In our testing process, we were able to use the 11.5 kW charger safely and effectively, and while the extra 0.5 kW capacity does not increase charging speed, it ensures full compatibility. The charging speed was the same as if we were using an 11 kW charger.

For fast home charging and permanent hardwired installation, we recommend an 11.5 kW EV charger. It delivers the full onboard rate of 11 kW, provides consistent and reliable performance, and future-proofs your setup. Chargers rated below 11 kW will charge more slowly and offer fewer high-quality options for long-term home use.

Installing a Hardwired 11.5 kW (48 A) 2025 Audi e-tron GT Level 2 Home Charger

For a hardwired 11.5 kW, 48‑amp Level 2 charger on a 240 V circuit, install a dedicated 60‑amp circuit breaker [NEC 625.41(A): Overcurrent protection must be sized at 125% of the continuous load]. Use 6 AWG copper conductors routed through a 1‑inch conduit, along with a 10 AWG ground wire [NEC 625.42: Wiring must accommodate the maximum continuous load], to ensure safe, code-compliant installation.

2025 Audi e-tron GT Charging Options: Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging

Start your journey here!

Step 2

In North America, the e-tron GT uses a J1772 connector with 120 V, adding about 3–4 miles of range per hour on a 15-amp outlet or up to 5 miles per hour on a 20-amp circuit. Full charging can take multiple days. In Europe, the Type 2 connector at 230 V is best suited for slow overnight charging at home.

Step 3

Level 2 home charging uses a J1772 connector in North America at 240 V and 11 kW, adding roughly 32 miles per hour and fully charging the battery in about 8.5–9 hours. In Europe, Type 2 connectors at 230–240 V can support up to 22 kW where available, making it ideal for faster home or workplace AC charging.

Step 4

For public fast charging, the e-tron GT supports CCS1 in North America or CCS2 in Europe, with up to 320 kW of DC power. This allows charging from 10–80% in about 18 minutes and adds approximately 150 miles of range in just 10 minutes, making it one of Audi’s fastest-charging models.
