Here’s a quick guide to Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 chargers for the Nissan Leaf, Nissan Ariya, and Nissan e-NV200.

Start your journey here!

Step 2

Level 1 charging uses a regular household outlet and provides the slowest charge. It’s typically included with the vehicle.

Step 3

Level 2 charging delivers faster speeds using a 240V circuit. It’s the most popular choice for home EV charging setups.

Step 4

Level 3 (DC fast charging) offers rapid charging at public stations. CHAdeMO on Leaf, CCS on Ariya.

Nissan Logo

Nissan is a Japanese automaker founded in 1933 and headquartered in Yokohama, Japan. As one of the founding members of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, Nissan is a global automotive powerhouse. The brand also has a special place in EV history as the creator of the Nissan Leaf, one of the world’s best-selling electric vehicles of all time.

The Nissan Leaf first launched in 2010 and helped make electric vehicles accessible to everyday drivers around the world. Over the years, the Leaf has been updated with longer range, faster charging, and improved technology. It remains one of the most recognizable and trusted electric vehicles in the market.

Nissan’s newer electric vehicle, the Ariya, represents a more modern approach to electric SUVs. The Ariya features a sleek crossover design, available all-wheel drive, and competitive range. It sits alongside the Leaf as Nissan’s primary EV offering in the North American market.

The Nissan Leaf uses the CHAdeMO DC fast charging standard, which is different from the CCS standard used by most other EVs. However, for home Level 2 charging, it uses the standard J1772 connector. The Ariya uses CCS for DC fast charging and J1772 for Level 2 home charging.

Charging the Nissan Leaf and Ariya at home with a Level 2 charger is the most efficient option. A 32 to 48-amp Level 2 charger provides a full overnight charge for either vehicle. Nissan also offers its own home charger solution, but the vehicles are fully compatible with third-party options.

This hub is your resource for Nissan EV charger reviews, installation advice, and home charging accessories for Nissan electric vehicles, including the Leaf and Ariya.
