Autel Maxicharger Pedestal Review
The Autel Maxicharger Pedestal offers a durable, stable platform for Autel EV chargers, with easy installation and a sleek design. It’s ideal for residential and commercial setups, though non-Autel users may find it less suitable.
The Autel Maxicharger pedestal stands out as one of the stable EV charger pedestals for those looking for a reliable and flexible mounting solution for their Autel EV chargers. This review will explore its compatibility, hands-on installation experience, material quality, structural design, performance, and alternatives, to help you decide if it’s the Autel Maxicharger pedestal is the right Autel EV charger stand for your home or business.
EV Charger Compatibility
The Autel Maxicharger pedestal is a branded, high-quality stand designed by Autel, fully compatible with a range of Autel EV chargers, including residential Autel EV chargers like the AC Lite and AC Elite, as well as commercial Autel EV chargers such as the AC Elite Business and AC Elite Pro.
Beyond its seamless integration with Autel’s lineup, the Maxicharger pedestal also supports third-party plug-in EV chargers and hardwired EV chargers that feature M4 mounting threads. This broad EV charger compatibility is a significant advantage, as it allows users to pair the Autel pedestal with a wide range of EV charger brands from different EV charger manufacturers, expanding its market potential and making it a versatile choice for many EV owners.
However, there are a few considerations that might deter some potential buyers. First, the large green Autel logo prominently displayed on the vertical column of the pedestal may turn away users who are not currently using Autel chargers or prefer a more neutral appearance. For these individuals, the branding may clash with their aesthetic preferences or give the impression that the pedestal is exclusively for Autel products, even though it is compatible with other brands that feature M4 mounting threads.
Another aspect that could be a downside for non-Autel EV owners is the absence of a cable and plug holder. The Autel Maxicharger pedestal is specifically designed for Autel chargers, many of which feature an integrated plug holder. As such, Autel did not see the need to include a dedicated cable management system in the pedestal’s design. While this is a thoughtful design choice for Autel users, it may be a dealbreaker for owners of other EV chargers that lack an integrated plug holder.
The lack of a cable management feature on the Autel Maxicharger Pedestal may deter EV owners with non-integrated cable and holster chargers, particularly when considering the need for proper cable organization and adherence to NEC rules. For chargers with cables longer than 25 feet, it is crucial to have a cable management system that complies with Article 635 of the NEC, which ensures cables are kept elevated, organized, and safely stored.
Recommended Third-Party EV Chargers with Integrated Plug Management
For users with third-party chargers like the Tesla Universal Wall Connector or Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector, the lack of dedicated cable storage on the Autel Maxicharger pedestal may not be an issue. Many other EV chargers highlighted below also feature integrated cable management, perfectly complementing the pedestal’s sleek, minimalist design. Without the need for additional cable storage or plug holsters, the Autel EV charger pedestal provides a functional and stylish solution for chargers with built-in cable management.
Looking for a Perfect Match?
While the Autel Maxicharger pedestal is compatible with both Autel EV chargers and non-Autel EV chargers that feature an integrated cable and plug holder, if you’re looking for a stand specifically designed for your EV charger brand, you may prefer pedestals tailored to brands like Wallbox, Tesla, or Universal EV chargers. Autel Maxicharger Pedestal Review
When it comes to outdoor installations, durability is a crucial consideration, and the Autel Maxicharger pedestal excels in this regard. Constructed from high-quality 430 stainless steel, the pedestal is built to withstand the rigors of outdoor environments. The steel is treated with an electrostatic spraying process, which enhances its corrosion resistance, making it ideal for exposure to rain, wind, and intense sunlight.
During my testing, I was impressed by how well the pedestal held up to varying weather conditions. Even after several weeks of exposure to the elements, there were no signs of rust or deterioration, a testament to the robustness of its construction. This makes it a long-term investment that will provide reliable service for years, regardless of the weather conditions.
The Autel Maxicharger pedestal shares a similar design to the budget-friendly Maizengauto EV charger pedestal, both featuring a sturdy vertical column for stability. However, the Autel pedestal’s prominent logo and higher cost may not appeal to all Autel users, budget-conscious buyers, or those who prefer a more subtle design. On the other hand, the Maizengauto model is budget-friendly, includes a protective EV charger cover, and may be more appealing to non-Autel users or those seeking a more discreet look.
While we installed the Autel AC Lite EV charger for testing this Autel Maxicharger pedestal, one of our readers raised a concern about the lack of a top protective cover like the Maizengauto EV charger pedestal. Without a cover, it can be difficult to read the embedded display on certain Autel EV chargers, such as the Maxicharger AC and AC Elite models, during the day due to glare or reflections from direct sunlight. The lack of a protective cover can cause the screen to wash out, making it harder to view and use the charger effectively in bright outdoor conditions.
Additionally, unlike other EV charger pedestals such as the BMZX Tesla charger pedestal that may require splicing or additional assembly, both the Autel Maxicharger pedestal and Maizengauto EV Charger Pedestal come as a single, unified piece. This design not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also simplifies installation and ensures greater stability.
The streamlined design eliminates unnecessary parts, reducing the risk of potential assembly errors and ensuring that the pedestal remains sturdy and reliable throughout its lifespan. It’s a sleek and modern design that will complement any charging setup, whether it’s at a residential home or a commercial property. Its minimalistic look ensures that it won’t distract from the surrounding environment, adding both function and style to your charging station.
At 4.1 feet tall, the Autel Maxicharger pedestal comfortably surpasses the National Electrical Code (NEC) height standards, which specify that outdoor EV chargers must be positioned at least 24 inches off the ground. For indoor setups, the NEC requires a minimum of 18 inches.
When it comes to performance, the Autel Maxicharger pedestal delivers reliably. Its thick vertical column, streamlined design, and durable 430 stainless steel construction provide a solid and secure mount for your Autel charger. This ensures long-term stability, even in harsh outdoor environments.
During my testing, the Autel Maxicharger pedestal remained rock-solid—showing no signs of wobble or instability, even in strong winds and heavy rain. This level of durability is especially important for outdoor EV charger installations and commercial EV charger installations, where equipment is often subject to outdoor weather elements, heavy use, and potential mishandling. A stable pedestal is essential to maintaining the safety and longevity of your charging setup.
The Autel Maxicharger pedestal is not only a reliable stand for your Autel charger but is also a dual EV charger pedestal/stand that allows for back-to-back installations, this versatility makes it ideal for homes with multiple EV chargers and future-proofing your installation in case you acquire an additional electric vehicle.
Autel Maxicharger Pedestal Installation
One of the standout features of the Autel Maxicharger pedestal is its exceptionally user-friendly installation process. Designed with a single-piece column, it requires no additional assembly—making it ideal for both DIY installers and professional electricians working in residential or commercial settings.
The pedestal includes all the necessary mounting hardware, and the included instructions are easy to follow, ensuring a smooth installation experience. Additionally, the adjustable bracket system adds versatility, allowing users to customize the setup to suit a variety of site conditions and charger models.
We recently completed the installation of a 50-amp Autel AC Lite EV charger which is a fast Level 2 EV charger mounted and hardwired on the EV charger pedestal. Our goal was to create a high-performance, outdoor, weather-resistant EV charging station suited for both residential and commercial applications, and the Autel system delivered exactly that.
Wiring the Autel Maxicharger Pedestal Circuit
We began by performing an EV charging electrical load calculation to ensure that our electrical panel could support a dedicated 60A circuit, which is necessary for the Autel AC Lite’s full 50A output, in compliance with the NEC 80% rule for continuous loads.
To protect the circuit, we used a 60A dedicated circuit breaker. Instead of 4 AWG, we ran 6 AWG copper wires for L1, L2, and ground, as the Autel AC Lite’s terminals are rated for 6 AWG. All wiring was routed through a 1-inch Schedule 40 PVC conduit from the main panel to the pedestal. We also mapped the shorted route of the cabling from the electrical panel to the EV charger pedestal, by keeping the run short and direct, we minimized voltage drop and improved charging efficiency.
The circuit wires from the electrical panel entered through the bottom inlet of the Autel EV charger pedestal and were routed up the internal raceway of the pedestal’s vertical column. At the base, we connected the green ground wire to the pre-installed earth terminal and bonded it to a copper ground rod driven into the earth, ensuring proper earthing of both the Autel Maxicharger pedestal and the 50-amp Autel AC Lite EV charger using protective multiple earthing (PME).
Autel EV Charger Pedestal Installation & Wiring
After the circuit wiring is done, it is time to assemble and install the Autel Maxicharger pedestal:
- Position the Pedestal: Choose a flat, level surface for installation, preferably a concrete surface, to ensure stability. The location should be accessible for both use and maintenance, whether indoors or outdoors.
- Mark and Drill Anchor Holes: Place the pedestal in the desired spot and use its base as a template to mark the bolt-hole positions. Drill four anchor holes into the concrete or floor, making sure they are deep enough for secure attachment.
- Secure the Pedestal: Fasten the pedestal securely to the surface using high-quality anchor bolts. This ensures the pedestal remains stable, even in varying weather conditions, providing a reliable foundation for both single and dual EV charger installations.

Mounting the EV Charger to the Pedestal
Once the pedestal is securely installed, follow these steps to mount your Autel AC Lite EV charger:
- Prepare the Charger and Pedestal: Ensure that the Autel AC Lite EV Charger is properly wired and ready for installation.
- Align the Charger Mounting Plate: Position the charger’s mounting plate at the appropriate height on the pedestal. The pedestal’s built-in cable exit allows for a clean installation, ensuring minimal visible conduit and wiring.
- Secure the Charger to the Pedestal: Using the provided mounting hardware, align the charger’s mounting holes with the pedestal’s attachment points. Tighten the bolts securely, ensuring the charger is firmly attached to the pedestal, and the unit is stable.
- Connect the EV Charger Terminal Wiring: For the Autel AC Lite, connect the L1, L2, and ground wires to the corresponding terminals on the charger, ensuring a secure and correct connection. The pedestal’s raceway allows the wires to run neatly up to the charger without the need for external junction boxes or splicing.
- Double-Check for Stability: Once mounted, ensure the charger is firmly secured and all wiring is properly routed and protected inside the pedestal. This ensures the setup is both functional and safe.
- Apply Sealant for Weatherproofing: To prevent water ingress and ensure a weatherproof installation, apply a high-quality outdoor sealant around the mounting area where the charger meets the pedestal. This step is essential for outdoor installations to protect the electrical components from moisture and dirt.
Potential Alternatives to Consider
While the Autel Maxicharger Pedestal is a top-tier option, other EV charger pedestals on the market may be worth considering depending on your specific needs.
Final Verdict: Is the Autel Maxicharger Pedestal Worth It?
The Autel Maxicharger Pedestal is a premium mounting solution built specifically for Autel’s lineup of residential and commercial AC chargers. Its solid one-piece stainless steel construction, sleek vertical profile, and weather-resistant finish make it ideal for both home and commercial environments. Installation is straightforward, and the pedestal includes thoughtful features like an internal cable guide and a clean cable exit point that simplifies wiring.
One important consideration for non-Autel charger users is the prominent Autel logo on the front of the pedestal. While this branding isn’t an issue for Autel owners, it may feel out of place when pairing the Autel Maxicharger Pedestal with a third-party EV charger, especially in commercial or public-facing installations where brand consistency matters.
That’s why we recommend the Maizengauto EV Charger pedestal for non-Autel EV charger installations, the EV charge pedestal offers a similar structural design and mounting compatibility without any visible branding — plus, it includes a protective top cover for added weather protection. Its clean, unbranded look and lower price point make it an excellent value for users with chargers like Tesla Wall Connectors, Grizzl-E, or ChargePoint Home Flex.
