Here’s a quick guide to Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 chargers for the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Eclipse Cross PHEV, and i-MiEV.
Level 1 charging uses a regular household outlet and provides the slowest charge. It’s typically included with the vehicle.
Level 2 charging delivers faster speeds using a 240V circuit. It’s the most popular choice for home EV charging setups.
Level 3 (DC fast charging) offers rapid charging at public stations. DC fast charge, not for PHEV models.

Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese automaker founded in 1970 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, Mitsubishi has a long history in the electrified vehicle space. In fact, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, launched in 2009, was one of the world’s first mass-produced modern electric vehicles.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been one of the brand’s most successful vehicles globally. As one of the best-selling plug-in hybrids in many markets, the Outlander PHEV combines an electric drivetrain with a gasoline engine to deliver practical all-wheel drive performance and enough electric range for most daily commutes.
The Outlander PHEV features a twin-motor all-wheel drive system, a substantial battery pack, and the ability to charge at home using a standard Level 2 charger. With a full battery charge, the Outlander PHEV can travel on electric power alone for typical daily driving, then seamlessly switch to hybrid mode for longer trips.
Charging the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV at home is best with a dedicated Level 2 charger. A 240-volt Level 2 charger can fully replenish the Outlander PHEV battery in around three and a half hours. Using a standard household outlet is possible but significantly slower.
Mitsubishi PHEVs use the standard J1772 connector for Level 2 AC charging. Mitsubishi has also announced plans for new fully electric models in the coming years as part of their alliance partnership with Nissan and Renault.
This hub covers Mitsubishi EV charger reviews, home setup tips, and accessory recommendations for Mitsubishi plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle owners, with a focus on getting the most out of your Outlander PHEV charging setup at home.
