BMW iX xDrive50: 11.5 kW Home Charger Charging Curve

Charging the BMW iX xDrive50 from 20% to 100% on a 11.5 kW home charger takes about 7 hr 44 min and adds around 255 miles of range. The car charges at 11.0 kW, giving roughly 33 miles per hour.

A line graph titled “BMW iX xDrive50: 11.5 kW Home Charger Charging Curve” shows how the state of charge and driving range increase over time for a BMW iX xDrive50 using a Level 2 home charger. The horizontal axis shows charging time in hours from 0 to about 7.7 hours, while the left vertical axis shows battery state of charge from 0% to 100% and the right vertical axis shows range in miles from 0 to 300. The charging curve starts at 20% and rises smoothly to 100% over the full charging session. At the same time, the estimated driving range increases from zero to about 255 miles. The data shows that a full charge from 20% to 100% takes roughly 7 hours and 44 minutes on an 11.5 kW home charger. The charging rate remains steady at about 11 kW, which adds approximately 33 miles of range per hour under normal home charging conditions.

BMW iX xDrive50 Charging Time Across Home Charger Sizes

The table below compares how long it takes to charge the BMW iX xDrive50 from different starting battery levels using home chargers from 1.44 kW up to 19.2 kW. The car has an onboard charger limit of 11 kW, so the best match is a 11.5 kW home charger, shown in green. Chargers above 11 kW are marked in red because the BMW iX xDrive50 cannot use the extra power, so they charge at the same speed as a 11 kW charger.

A color-coded table titled “Charging Time Across Home Charger Sizes” shows how long it takes a BMW iX xDrive50 to reach a full charge from 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% using home chargers ranging from 1.44 kW to 19.2 kW. Chargers from 1.44 kW to 7.68 kW are shown in grey, indicating they are below the vehicle’s AC charging limit and result in very long charging times, such as 66.4 hours at 1.44 kW and 12.5 hours at 7.68 kW from 10%. Mid-range chargers at 9.6 kW and 10 kW are marked in orange, taking about 10.0 hours and 9.6 hours respectively from 10%. The 11.5 kW charger is highlighted in green as the recommended option, charging from 10% in 8.7 hours, from 20% in 7.7 hours, and from 80% in about 1.9 hours. Higher-powered chargers at 12 kW and 19.2 kW are shown in red and deliver the same charging times as the 11.5 kW option, confirming that the BMW iX xDrive50’s onboard AC charging is limited to about 11 kW, so higher power does not improve charging speed.
