Battery Tender eCharge 40 AMP EV Charger Installation

Installing the Battery Tender eCharge 40 AMP EV charger requires either a NEMA 14-50 circuit or a hardwired connection, depending on the charger’s input type. Both options must connect to a 240V power supply to function properly.

The NEMA 14-50 outlet runs on 240V and has a 50-amp rating, but for this installation, it’s best to set the EV charger to a continuous 40A. This outlet has four terminals: two hot wires (L1 and L2), a neutral wire (N), and a ground wire (G). The wiring diagram below shows the proper setup for the 40 AMP Battery Tender eCharge EV Charger NEMA 14-50P.

The wiring diagram shows the setup for a 40 AMP Battery Tender eCharge EV charger with a NEMA 14-50P outlet. It includes a table with key electrical specifications: 240V voltage, 40A current, 6 AWG wire size, a 50A breaker, and 9.6 kW charger power. The diagram illustrates the NEMA 14-50 outlet with labeled terminals for hot (black and red), neutral (white), and ground (green or copper). A note at the bottom recommends installing the outlet 20-26 inches from the ground.
